The Mysterious of Socotra Island

surfing the net, then i found this marvelles info.. tempatnye sungguh pelik n ganjil yet pretty do...cm kite mengembara ke satu alam lain yg sngt berbeza... hm some info about this island.. Socotra Island, terletak antara pantai Somalia dan Samudra Hindia, masuk ke dalam wilayah Republik Yaman. Pulau terbesar bernama Socotra, sedang tiga pulau yang lainnya adalah Abd Al Kuri, Samha dan Darsa (yang dikenal dengan sebutan The Brothers).

It has been geographically isolated from mainland Africa for the last 6 or 7 million years. The archipelago features narrow coastal plains, a limestone plateau with caves, and mountains which rise to 1,525 meters above sea level.

Like the Galapagos Islands, this island is teeming with 800 extremely rare species of flora and fauna, a full 1/3 of which are endemic, i.e. found no where else on Earth. huhuh..subhanallah...

Socotrais home to more than 800 species of plants, some 240 of which are endemic to the island, and there are certainly many more plant species that have yet to be discovered. The climate is harsh, hot and dry, and yet - the most amazing plant life thrives there.

A Dragon’s Blood Tree (Dracaena cinnabari) is seen in front of the Skundmountains on the island of Socotra, Yemen. The tree is so named because any injury to the bark results in a deep red liquid excreting from thescar – compared in the past to the "Blood of Dragons".

The branches spread out into the sky and from below appear to hover overthe landscape like so many flying saucers... and from above they have adistinct mushroom look.

there is also pokok yg bernama desert rose (adenium obesium) which is kelihatan seperti kaki gajah yg mengeluarkan bunga..isn't it? hehhe tp cantek bukan... tp penduduk tempatan lebih mengenalinya dengan imej perempuan gemuk yang bertopi wawawa. batangnye yang gemuk boleh menyimpan air berbulan bulan. Pokok ini paling BERACUN. kambing pon tk berani usik..

Ini pulak ialah pokok 'socotran fig'. Batang nya berbentuk unik, seakan akan tubuh manusia.

Kota yang terkenal di pulau socotra adalah Hadiboh dengan jumlah penduduk sekitar 50000. Berketurunan India, Arab dan Somali. Beragama islam. Dari keempat pulaunya, hanya Darsa yang belum berpenghuni. UNESCO pada tahun 2008, pulau ini dimasukkan ke dalam 8 monumen alam ( 8 keajaiban alam di dunia ).

kak bejah n kak jue jgn jeles hokey..ayep jumpe kak nanae tadi petang heheh... unxpected plan doo.. ok kuar dr rumah singgah futsal.. pastu nk g mydin cr barang tp wallawey ramai le pulak orang..malas laa nk masuk.. hmm bang jom kite g pantai nak... my hubby kate ok jomm.....pantai mane...aku jwb mane2 aje la.. jalan le kami tnpa arah tujuan.. g kt golf resort tgk rumah... pastu my hubby jom kite g pantai tok jembal ..kite spotcek mane tau nana tgh dating ... wawawawa... jomm set aje.. haha..
smpai kt pantai..tepon anak dara ni tgh membute rupenyee! haippp bangun bangun ahahha... so g amik dia kt rumah sewanya n ktorang lepak2 buang mase waawa.. saje je + nk bawak arif tgk laut.. tknak sentuh langsung air laut..takot kot ombak nmpak cm besarr je heheh... pasir pon mule2 tknak...lame2 siap kambus kaki dlm pasir lagii wawawawa
ok na..nti kite lepak2 lagi... kali ni bawak sekali mr haru dtg mengadap hokeyyy.... poksu nk interview banyak nie wawawawa....
